Adventures in the Workplace

So, I am working at a major cellular telecommunications company that is based in Reston. You would think that cell phones from other carriers might benefit signal-wise from the concentration of good-cellular-mojo near and in the buildings. It is actually the exact opposite; the signal is almost always one bar or nil. There are a few weird hotspots around the hallways though and you can always tell when someone is using a personal cell phone because they will migrate to these spots to get a better signal :) It reminds me of smokers congregating near the entrancesof buildings to get their nicotine fix :)

The other thing I have had to get used to seeing around here is that everyone usually has at least two cell devices with them at all times. In some cases there are three because they will have the company issued cell phone and BlackBerry and then their personal cell phone. As you might imagine there is lots of talking on these cells phones in general around here ;) Having worked at AOL for two years I was used to using IM and text messaging as the main mode of communication. I am now getting used to carrying and using several cell devices.
