Snowy day in Northern Virginia

We have finally gotten enough snow this season to actually rate a picture! This is the view out the back door. It looks like about 6 inches worth, which is a decent amount for this area. I am very glad I’m not the one who has to shovel this mess ;)

Knitting like a crazy person

So, when I started this blog I had meant for it to be a knitting blog. BUT, I was very lazy about photographing my older projects and I had it stuck in my head that I couldn’t just start posting with the current project! It had to be chronological… starting in 1986… dang my linear soul :)

The knitting olympics seems to have cured me of that. I am knitting a Clapotis, which I cast on last night using Noro Silk Garden in color 8 (progress pictures to follow, really!). I promised the Team Clapotis gang - button on the right - that I would post a pic of the Clapotis I made last year so here it is. It is made from Fillati FF Shine in smoke. I searched Yarndex and it’s not listed anymore so it may not be made anymore.

You've got to be kidding!?!

So, it’s 6:00 am and I’m drinking coffee, watching the news (actually I yell at the news but that’s another story) and trying to pry the eyes open while mustering the energy to get the day going. The weatherman is forcasting a big storm for the DC Metro area for Saturday - 6-10 inches maybe. “That’s okay,” I think “I’m competing in the 2006 Knitting Olympics so I won’t be going anywere on Saturday anyway. Just kntting away on my Clapotis for Team Clapotis, Go team!”

Back to the news cast… they cut to a reporter - one of those poor sods who has to stand out in the [weather disater du jour] and tell everyone not to go out into this horrible [ibid]. She is outside a local grocery store doing snow interviews a full 24 HOURS before the snow is even supposed to start!! You have got to be kidding me! At least wait until the snow is actually falling. Sheesh, the drive to be able to say “You saw it here first on News channel 4” is getting way out of hand.
